An Extended Theory of Planned Behavior to Explain General Contractors’ Long-Term Cooperation Intentions in Construction Projects: Empirical Evidence from China

With the continuous development of construction industry, current production mode is gradually transforming into contractor, professional subcontractor and labor subcontractor’s “main-sub contractor” cooperative in market segmentation. Long-term cooperation between contractors subcontractors beneficial to both parties, yet only limited research has explored factors that determine contractors’ willingness cooperate with on a long-term basis. This paper explores influence long term forming mechanisms. To achieve this goal, study combines characteristics industry increase variable past experience, constructing an extended planned behavior theory model. Through questionnaire surveys, experience subcontract management were surveyed, hypotheses tested using structural equation modeling techniques. The results showed intention was mainly influenced by attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control. While new variable, had significant effects attitudes control, influencing affecting no direct effect norms. will explain formation mechanism general contractor relationship provide theoretical basis for select partners suggestions improve their work.
